APFC hires Russell Read for CIO
MAR 29 - The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation announced today that Russell Read has been hired to serve as Chief Investment Officer.
"I`m pleased to welcome Russell to our team," said Angela Rodell, Chief Executive Officer. “He has more than 30 years of serving in various leadership roles in the investment industry, and most recently worked as the Chief Investment Officer/Deputy Chief Executive of the Gulf Investment Corporation (Kuwait)."
Mr. Read’s experience includes serving as the CIO to CalPERS, heading up his own private equity firm, overseeing risk and product engineering programs for Oppenheimer Funds, and serving as Deputy Chief Investment Officer for Deutsche Asset Management. Mr. Read holds a Bachelor’s Degree and MBA from the University of Chicago and attended Stanford University to earn an additional Masters degree in Economics as well as a PhD in Political Economy. His first day of work will be May 9th, with a starting salary of $400,000.00.
Jim Parise, Head of Fixed Income for APFC, served as acting CIO following the departure of Jay Willoughby in October, 2015 for another organization.

He is and will be an important asset to the Corporation and the Fund as we manage through all the potential changes ahead."
