In August 2008, Robert Valer joined the Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation as the Corporation’s first General Counsel.  Prior to that, Mr. Valer was in private practice or in-house counsel in Washington DC for 18 years, where he advised the boards and sponsors of public and private institutional investment funds.

Mr. Valer has J.D. and Masters of Law in Taxation degrees from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington DC and is a member of the Alaska Bar Association.  He also has a BS degree from Minot State University and an Ed.M. degree from Boston University.
